Hola . Bonjour . Zdrastvutye . Konichiwa .
Bongiorno . Hallo . Hello

Call me William. I have a Chinese name, but that's only for bureaucratic purposes.
I designed this website as an affiliation with Princeton Christian Church; and, so it
can be used in conjunction with the Sunday School Class that I may or may not
teach next summer. Don't get me wrong, I'll teach, I just don't know which class
yet. Plus, this website is my only expressive outlet.

If you know me, you know I like art and people have said I'm good at it. In any
case, I like art, but I rarely have the motivation or time to do any serious art. So,
I thought...hey, I'm at school, there's a computer, why not spend a few moments
just dabbling around. Thus, my website is born.

A little background on who I am:

In a nutshell, I graduated valedictorian in the class of 2001 from Bound Brook
High School. Right now, its my second year at Rutgers University to pursue a
medical career (hopefully) with a major in Cell Biology and Neuroscience, a minor in
Psychology, and a certificate in Horticultural Therapy; and I commute in a run-
down Mercedes.

Yea...that's another thing, since my dad's a mechanic, I have a tendency to like
cars. I love my car, but I love God even more for giving it to me.

My interests include (but not exclusive): cars, art, and teaching. I've been
leading the Friday night bible-study for 7 years, but I've only been a Sunday
School teacher for a summer. I did a lot of research into how to be an effective
teacher, and I have made many friends who have been very helpful. I encourage
anyone who's interested in teaching children to do so! It's fun and rewarding.

I want to thank Dr. Marilyn Atherley, Professor Rochel Gelman, and Clara Tsao for
their insight into the world of the child. Without them, I would not know as much
as I do now about teaching.

Well, that's it. I'm no Evel Knieval, but I keep busy.

Don't be a stranger and drop me a line sometime! TanManCan@hotmail.com

Some things that I've written (also under Publications):

Effective Teaching: Inspired Teaching Methods
In here are the teaching methods that I have found to be very useful in my
classroom. This guideline is the one that I use for my workshops.

Issues in Effective Teaching: Honors Thesis
This is my honors thesis which will be available when I graduate. I am currently
doing research into this topic.

Language Coding in the Class: Cognition Thesis
This is my thesis that I did for my Advanced Topics in Human Cognition class
which looks at the language interaction between the student and teacher, its
effects and its implications.
